Maria Giannina Valicetta is an Italian woman who dreams of adventure. In 1956, she leaves her homeland, Sorrento, Italy, in hopes of finding a better life in Canada.
Throughout the musical, we witness Maria Giannina’s departure, life on the ship, and the transition to her new life in Canada.
Told through popular Italian and Neapolitan songs, and interactions with key characters she meets, this is a celebration of immigrants, women, and the timeless and universal story of tradition, hope, love and nostalgia.
